Frequently Asked Questions

What materials do you use?

I use the highest quality professional artist materials to ensure paintings stand the test of time. All works are finished and varnished for UV protection. I work mainly in water-based media, including acrylic paint, ink, pencils, charcoal, wax pastel, and soft pastel. Oil pastel, oil stick, and spray paint are often also layered in.

Are your paintings framed?

Many of my works on canvas are sold unframed as the painting continues over the edges and is an integral part of the piece. In addition, many people prefer this more contemporary look. However, I do professionally frame some works on canvas if the painting calls for it, using contemporary slimline floater frames. If a painting is currently unframed and you would like to have it framed, I am happy to work with my professional framer (at additional cost) or give you advice in working with your own framer.

Paintings on wood panel come professionally framed in contemporary slimline floaters or are floated above coordinating backing with modern bespoke frames.

Most works on paper are also completed with bespoke frames and museum-quality glass. Some paper pieces are sold unmounted and unframed but I would be happy to discuss mounting and framing options to perfectly showcase your piece.

Framing details will be listed alongside each work. Please contact me if you would like advice or have any further questions – framing is an art in itself!

Will my painting be ready to hang?

Yes, all paintings except the largest ones will come with picture wire already fixed and ready to hang. For the larger ones, I prefer for them to be hung without a wire so they sit flush against the wall; flush hanging brackets will be installed for these. If you have questions about this, please do not hesitate to contact me.

My favorite painting has sold. How can I be sure to know about new work?

Some pieces sell very quickly. Make sure you join my mailing list below to find out about new work before it is added to the gallery. You can also follow studio progress on Instagram to see work coming up.

How will my painting be packaged?

All paintings will be carefully wrapped first with glassine to protect the paint surface, then packed using corner protection, bubble wrap for cushioning, and custom boxing. Each piece is unique so I take care that the packaging is also bespoke so that your painting will arrive in perfect condition.

Purchasing

Every care has been taken to show the artwork as accurately as possible with regard to size and color. The image you see online may show a slight difference due to variation across browsers, devices and screen settings. Any variation between the image represented and the actual artwork is not deemed a fault and such inconsistencies will not be a valid reason for return.

How is my payment handled?

Payments are taken through PayPal or Stripe in US Dollars. You do not need to have a PayPal or Stripe account to purchase as you can use these platforms to pay with your regular debit or credit card. We do not store any of your debit/credit card details.

Do you ship your paintings both domestically and internationally?

I am thrilled to ship paintings throughout North America and to most countries in the world. I am pleased to offer FREE domestic shipping (including insurance and tracking) for paintings available in my Gallery as a THANK YOU!

Overseas shipments may be subject to import duties and taxes according to the laws of the destination country. Any additional charges are at the customer’s expense.

If you live in the Washington, DC area, I am happy to hand-deliver your painting!

How soon after placing my order will I receive my artwork?

Most orders will be packed and shipped within 7-10 business days. In the US and Canada, most deliveries can be expected within 5-7 business days from the time of shipping; international shipping will take longer. If you need delivery by a specific date, please contact me first to make sure it can reach you in time. There may be an extra charge for rush deliveries according to your requirements.

What if my painting arrives and I don’t like it?

Once a return has been agreed upon, you are responsible for packing and arranging return delivery using the same shipping service I used to send it to you.
